Well, no! We are battling the heatwave of all times with 45 days with temperatures over +25 degrees (Celcius) so far. This feels more like Spain than Finland. It is a blessing, of course, if you happen to be on holiday or travelling in Finland. We are so lucky to have our tens of thousands of lakes in this country. The lakes make the heat always much easier to bear, and provide you with excellent and numerous opportunities for cooling off.

Take our private lake, Lake Pirttijärvi, for instance. There is nothing more invigorating than a dip into its soft, blue, refreshing waters, day or night, and many times a day, if you like. You can start your morning with a cool swim while the beach and the jetty are still partly in shade, or end your day by sitting outside in the warm, mellow evening sun, listening to the sounds of the forest around you. To go swimming very late in the evening when it is almost dark already (in August) is an experience to remember – often the cranes keep you company, and  you certainly cannot ignore their (very loud) calls…
